The 2-1-1 Partnership was launched on February 11, 2005 in the State of New Jersey.  United Way has taken a leadership roll in 2-1-1, not just in New Jersey, but nationally.  Today there are approximately over 30 million Americans in 40 states who have access to 2-1-1, but New Jersey is just one in a handful of states that have 2-1-1 STATEWIDE.  In New Jersey, you can access 2-1-1 by landline, cell phone or the web.  In New Jersey, the Board of Public Utilities has designated the 2-1-1 Partnership, a subsidiary of United Way of New Jersey, as the sole administrator of 2-1-1.

On October 25, 2006 the United Way of Greater Cumberland County, Cumberland County Board of Freeholders and Cumberland County One-Stop Career Center were pleased to open the Cumberland County 2-1-1 Call Center, which will call the One-Stop Career Center on North Delsea Drive in Vineland home.  Daniel Seda, the bi-lingual call specialist for Cumberland County can assist anyone who calls 2-1-1 by using a specialized database to assist callers in need of social service assistance.   The Union Organization for Social Services in Pennsauken will oversee the daily operations of the call center for Cumberland County.  The New Jersey 2-1-1 website is also available for anyone to use to find social services in the state.

Funding for 2-1-1 is provided by United Way of Greater Cumberland County, Cumberland County Board of Freeholders, Millville School District and Cumberland County One-Stop Career Center.
