Why Volunteer with United Way
Many people who are eager to volunteer have similar questions about what it will involve. We have a question and answer section below.
- How do I get started?
- How do I know if volunteering is right for me?
- What does volunteering really do?
- What if I'm asked to do something I would rather not do?
1. How do I get started?
Easy! United Way of Greater Cumberland County is dedicated to connecting volunteers with opportunities. It's
quick and easy, and you can do it online, right now by emailing admin@unitedwaygcc.org to tell us what type of volunteering interests you or contact our office at 856-205-1800.
2. How do I know if volunteering is right
for me?
To volunteer all you need is some free time and a willingness to
help. Our experience has been the vast majority of people who are drawn
to volunteering enjoy it immensely. The best part is, we can easily
work around your schedule and your preferences to ensure you are involved
with something you will enjoy.
3. What does volunteering really do?
In a word, everything. Without volunteers, United Way and many of
its partners and agencies simply could not exist. From community leaders
who serve on our board to the thousands of men and women who pitch
in and help throughout the city, volunteering makes the difference
between hopelessness and hope.
5. What if I'm asked to do something I would
rather not do?
You will never be asked to do something you don't want to do. With
hundreds of places where concerned, intelligent volunteers are needed,
there are always ample opportunities to connect you with something that
suits your particular tastes and skills.
